Kati McAllister Hibri is the sixth generation of her family to live in San Antonio, Texas. She grew up in a very creative household, and her first love, as far as art forms are concerned, was dance. A background of ballet, Flamenco, South Indian temple dance, and Ghanaian dance provided her the inspiration of movement still visible in her works of art.
Kati graduated from Wesleyan University, Middletown, CT, with a double major in Earth & Environmental Science and Religion. She has studied and traveled in many countries, including a 75 - day backpacking trip in Patagonia. She has worked as a performance artist and entertainer for the "Art, Ambiance, and Antics" crew on The String Cheese Incident's Big Summer Classic Tour, and is a regular participant at the annual Burning Man art event at the Black Rock Desert of Nevada.
After graduation in 2006, Kati moved back to San Antonio. On 7-7-07, Kati and Hilal met and sparks struck, creatively and otherwise. Within months they had started their glass jewelry line, and were later married. They now operate Hibri Glass out of San Antonio, creating not just jewelry, but sculpture and 3D wall pieces as well.
In addition to glass as a medium, the two started working with castable stone, enamel and acrylic using many of the same techniques used in their glass casting. For these items and other glass collaborations, the two devised a new collaborative pseudonym: Kato&Lali (a modification of “Kati” and “Lalo,” Hilal’s nickname). Each unique piece of art produced has been hand-crafted from start to finish and is evidence of their love.

Most of the wood I use is reclaimed from storms or insect damaged trees found in the Dallas Fort Worth area and other places I travel—I never cut trees down for my own use. I use discarded cutoffs acquired from various commercial sources, or trade raw material with other wood workers around the country and, on occasion, from overseas. I create a variety of works in wood—inlaid urns, bowls, boxes, wineglasses and decorative Eucharist plates. I enjoy working in Quilted and Fiddleback Maple, Walnut, Olive wood, and Red Oak, as well as the more exotic woods like Cocobolo, Bloodwood, and spalted Ash.

P. A. Jones has painted all her life. Growing up amid the asphalt and clamor of Los Angeles, she always yearned for a place both quiet and beautiful. A lifelong search for that perfect somewhere led her to many impressive places in California, New Mexico, Washington and Arizona. Now in Dallas, Texas, she still finds herself surrounded by the city, but travels outside its environs as often as possible, gathering source material for her paintings. She enjoys combining oil paint with wax in her works.
"Although I'm an introvert by nature, there is a yearning to connect with the outside world. Images relate more easily than words. Painting gives me the opportunity to share my vision with others. The light that surrounds us is the motivating factor; translating that sense of beauty and quiet encountered in nature."

Some of my most vivid childhood memories are of my dad scoring and breaking glass sheets into hundreds of tiny pieces that he would later assemble and fuse. Over the years I have been lucky to be exposed to the wide range of glass techniques that he utilized. I did not open myself up to creating art until the extra scientific research I had been doing during the summers at Wake Forest University allowed me an opportunity to take strictly studio art classes throughout my fourth year. After graduation, I spent six weeks assisting Portland based glass artist Linda Ethier.
In the summer of 2002 my father began to focus on one-part open-face pate de verre vases. The technical challenge drew me in, and countless hours of intense brainstorming and experimenting followed. My creative wanderlust led me from pate de verre vases to cast crystal jewelry, from negative relief wall pieces to large abstract sculpture. Throughout my journey, problem solving and experimentation have been crucial – learning as much from disasters and accidental victories as from successful execution.
At my core, I am driven to convey the underlying forces that organize the otherwise chaotic universe into pattern and life. I believe that the unique luminosity and limitless versatility of the glass medium make it ideally suited to communicate the progressive issues of our time.
Technically, I strive for elegance, constantly refining my process to identify and capitalize on tasteful efficiencies in the design process. In 2007 I met my best friend and wife, Kati, and started collaborating instantly. We started selling work in 2008 and I finally quit my day job in 2009. Our work is increasingly multi-part, multi-media and modular. Currently, we have been exploring the advantages of applying fundamental geometric principles to the creation of multi-part kiln-formed glass sculptures.
