When I was a small girl, my cousin Quincy taught me to dig clay and make little clay dolls with thistle hair and flowers for clothes. I still make little clay figures, but I now weld, work in fused glass, do portraits and play with shapes and color in ceramic and bronze.
For figurative work, I love to capture the moment in my sculpture: the beautiful innocence of childhood, a dancer's fleeting grace, a bird dog's first point, a past moment in history. These are precious moments that need to be honored, cast in bronze and enjoyed forever.
I was fortunate to study under Octavo Medellin, James Surles, David Newton, Lincoln Fox, Bill Jamison, Art Shier, Liz Wagoner and the best—George Davis. I studied art at Southern Methodist University and William and Mary University, among others. I have been commissioned to do public works throughout Texas—for St. Luke's Church, The Callier Center, Trinity Episcopal and St. Michael's Episcopal Church.

"Creativity is allowing yourself to make mistakes. Art is knowing which ones to keep! I just HOPE I’ve managed to keep the right ones!"
A true Texas artist, Cynthia Daniel has been creating art for over 45 years with work shown in over 65 galleries throughout Texas. She is represented in local galleries and has work in private collections throughout the country. Inspired by the idea of repurposing metal, she discovered her true passion and medium in finding discarded metal and creating one-of-a-kind sculptures. Aside from welding steel and other metal, she has also worked in fused glass, stained glass, mosaics, hand-made recycled paper, photography, and multi-media.
Cynthia has an extensive background of study in diverse media through classes and workshops, and holds a BFA from Louisiana State University, and a BBA from Southern Methodist University. She has been Committee Member and Garden Gallery Juror for Arboretum ArtScape, Chairperson for East Dallas Garden & Artist's Tour, member and Board Member of TSA, Board Member of Creative Arts Center, and a TVAA member.
